JOB SUMMARY

The Mental Health Professional reports to the Program Director/Deputy Regional Director/Regional Executive Director and provides mental health clinical services, direct treatment services to patients, and case management services to clients.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Provide high quality, therapeutic, wellness and recovery oriented, direct therapy services (individual, family, group treatment, case management, and consultation) in the clinic and in the community as necessary to a caseload of clients diagnosed Mental Illness and clients diagnosed Substance Use Disorder.

2.  Document services to meet all clinical program, county, and state requirements, including Short-Doyle/Medi-Cal requirements and Drug Medical requirements, noting significant intervention and progress toward development and attainment of a treatment plan.

3.  Provide Mental Health Assessments/ASAM DMC Assessments and document accordingly.

4.  For clients with Substance Use Disorder: Provide diagnosis, document medical necessity, and review and authorize assessments and treatment plans provided by treatment staff..

5.  Maintain and submit all documentation and billing as it relates to a clients services.

6.  Meet with clinical mental health services staff to review client's progress and to assure quality treatment planning.

7.  Provide direction to Treatment Team regarding needed case management tasks.

8.  Follow all reporting requirements for incidents of Child Abuse, Elder Abuse, Adult Abuse, Dependent Adult Abuse, and Tarasoff warnings per California reporting laws. 

9.  Review client files at discharge for completion, making written notes of findings, and review findings with counseling staff for the purpose of quality assurance.

10.  Attend and participate in staff meetings and on-site staff training.

11.  Communicate closely, in a systematic fashion, with agencies and significant others involved in the rehabilitation of clients.

12.  Provide the Program Director with timely reports on any unusual occurrences that might affect the overall program operation or the health and safety of clients or employees.

13.  Complete the minimum 40 hours training annually per Turning Point training requirements.

14.  Will drive on company business and transport consumers as needed.

15.  Think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies. 

16.  Comply with all Turning Point Safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to: workplace safety, reporting work related injuries, infection control and preventing potential safety risks for staff, clients and others.

17.  Employees are expected to manage their cell phone use so that the Agency cell phone stipend covers all business usage.  Any calls not covered by the stipend are to be made on a company landline phone.

18.  Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at Turning Point. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Employees also are expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule. Late arrival, early departure or other absences from scheduled hours are disruptive and must be avoided.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

1.  Licensed Preferred:  Currently licensed in the State of California as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or Clinical Psychologist (LCP), with at least two (2) years' post licensure experience.

2.  Hours Completed: A Master's degree in behavioral health science with current registration as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) or an Associate Social Worker (ASW) and hours completed.

3.  Masters:  A Master's degree in behavioral health science with current registration as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) or an Associate Social Worker (ASW).

4.  Must be registered with Board of Behavioral Science (BBS). 

5.  Current certified training in emergency first aid procedures and CPR.

6.  Knowledge of best practices regarding the treatment of clients with Mental Illness and individuals diagnosed with a Substance Use Disorder.

7.  Knowledge of record keeping procedures related to patient charts and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.

8.  Experience with co-occurring substance use disorders and treatment modalities.

9.  Communicate effectively in written and spoken English. 

10.  Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

11.  Ability to operate within Electronic Health Records (EHR) system. 

12.  Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws.  Agency insurer authorization is required. 

13.  Ability to pass a criminal background check.

14.  Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, general physical, and TB test.

15.  Must maintain good relationships with consumers, co-workers, government and civic representatives, as well as community members within whom the Agency is transacting business, and relate to them in a professional manner.

16.  Must be available by cell phone as needed.
