JOB SUMMARY

The Mental Health Rehab Worker reports to the Program Director and is responsible for working as part of a team and achieving the goals and objectives of the Multiple disciplinary Mental Health Services or Day Rehab Team while also providing direct services to clients and their families, agencies, and other professionals. 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Assist in the accomplishment of the treatment plan for Children's Mental Health program clients under the supervision of the Program Director or Clinical Supervisor, by screening, evaluation and identification of specific case management activities.

2.  Employees shall follow the reporting requirements for incidents of Child Abuse, Elder Abuse, Adult Abuse, Dependent Adult Abuse, and Tarasoff warnings per California reporting laws. 

3.  Will provide mental health related rehabilitation services to identified and assigned clients.

4.  Will help client's learn new and improve upon their social skills.

5.  Will maintain a concrete behavioral focus while working with clients.

6.  Will conduct targeted case management evaluations and will refer cases to appropriate agencies as indicated.

7.  Will document all progress notes in the client's Electronic Health Record (EHR) by 10 am of the following business day.

8.  Will attend job-related trainings and also participate in a variety of in-service training, seminars, and practicum.

9.  Will attend weekly staff meetings and weekly supervision meetings.

10.  Perform other tasks when asked by the Team Leader or Program Director, as time allows.

11.  Think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.

12.  Will drive on Agency business.

13.  Comply with all Turning Point Safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to: workplace safety, reporting work related injuries, Infection Control and preventing potential safety risks for staff, clients and others.

14.  Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at Turning Point. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Employees also are expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule. Late arrival, early departure or other absences from scheduled hours are disruptive and must be avoided.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

1.  Bachelor's Degree in social work or counseling in a related field and two (2) years full-time work experience providing direct client services in a mental health, social services, or educational or similar setting; OR educational achievement equivalent to 60 college semester units and four (4) years full-time work experience providing direct client services in a mental health, social services, educational or similar setting; OR a high school diploma plus at least 12 college semester units in the human services area and six (6) years full-time work experience providing direct client services in a mental health, social services, educational or similar setting.

2.  Communicate effectively in written and spoken English.

3.  Work effectively with diverse ethnic, religious, socioeconomic and professional groups of people.

4.  Plan, coordinate, and facilitate services for clients of the Children's Mental Health programs.

5.  Assist the Mental Health Professional and Clinical Psychologist in screening and identification activities.

6.  Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

7.  Ability to operate within Electronic Health Records (EHR) system. 

8.  Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws.  Agency insurer authorization is required. 

9.  Ability to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment physical, drug screen, and TB test.

10.  Must maintain good relationships with consumers, co-workers, government and civic representatives, as well as community members within whom the Agency is transacting business, and relate to them in a professional manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR BILINGUAL SKILL

1.  Communicate effectively in written and spoken Spanish.

2.  Required ability to communicate effectively with monolingual Spanish speaking clients and families for all clinical purposes. 

3.  Assist with phone calls for Spanish speaking clients.

4.  Required to provide language translations for case managers and Physicians on a periodic basis.

5.  Minimal adequate competency in the Spanish language as evidenced by successful passage of the TPOCC Spanish Competency Test.

6.  Other translation tasks as required.
