JOB SUMMARY

The Cook reports to the Program Director and is responsible for preparing quality meals for facility in
compliance with all contractual, State and local health department guidelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Prepare meals following approved menus that meet nutritional standards with all contractual, State
and local health department guidelines.
2. Be responsible for the efficient operation of culinary area and the supervision of the part-time cook
and residents assisting in kitchen operations.
3. Responsible for managing and complying with program food services budget.
4. Purchase of food and program supplies ensuring that food is stored and served in accordance with all
State and local health department sanitation requirements.
5. Conduct daily sanitation of kitchen and food storage areas.
6. Conduct daily food sampling of all meals served during a 24-hour period for possible contamination.
7. Conduct weekly food inventory.
8. Conduct daily house supply/chemical inventory and ensure that there MSDS are on file for all
household chemicals.
9. Prepare Foodlink reports on monthly basis.
10. Ensure that safety procedures for knives are followed.
11. Will drive on Agency business as needed.
12. Think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
13. Comply with all Turning Point Safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to:
workplace safety, reporting work related injuries, Infection Control and preventing potential safety
risks for staff, clients and others.
14. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at Turning Point.
Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working.
Employees also are expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule. Late arrival, early
departure or other absences from scheduled hours are disruptive and must be avoided.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. High school diploma or GED and at least one (1) year of full-time experience.
2. Current Food Handlers certification.
3. Current certified training in emergency first aid procedures and CPR.
4. Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is
properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is
required.
5. Ability to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment physical, drug screen, and TB test.
6. Must maintain good relationships with consumers, co-workers, government and civic
representatives, as well as community members within whom the Agency is transacting business,
and relate to them in a professional manner.
